“Ian” is an animated short film created by the Ian Foundation and Mundaloco CGI in Argentina: youtu.be/6dLEO8mwYWQ. Ian was born with cerebral palsy. All he wants is to make friends, although it seems impossible to achieve when discrimination and bullying keep him away from his beloved playground. However, this young boy is determined and won’t give up easily.
We have been blessed to partner with the filmmakers to use this film as a teaching tool in our education program. Now we are working together to bring Ian’s animated playground to life in Argentina! Learn more about the Ian Foundation (Fundación Ian) at: fundacionian.com.
Kids with disabilities can be a part of animation at home in these ways:
- Learn how animation helps kids with special needs: huehd.com/animation-children-special-needs/?cn-reloaded=1
- Teach kids how to make simple films using stop motion: theschoolrun.com/kids-animation-activities
- Let kids be the stars by filming them acting out their favorite animated stories: thegeniusofplay.org/genius/play-ideas-tips/play-ideas/act-it-out.aspx#.Xp1Fe-QifDs
Did you know that kids with disabilities are 60% more likely to be bullied than their typically able peers? At Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration, we use our inclusive playgrounds to teach children how to see beyond their differences and include ALL children. Learn more at inclusionmatters.org.
