Mental Health During COVID-19

This past year has brought up so many emotions in our children… anxiety, fear, and frustration, to name a few. Hospital visits among children for this very reason are at a frightening, all-time high.

How do we help our children and ourselves identify these powerful feelings? What tools do we need to help manage them and find calm in chaos? How do we help our children build an optimistic view of the future amidst a pandemic?

We are honored to partner with Too Small to Fail to offer an incredible panel of experts who will help answer these questions and more during our upcoming Lunch & Learn:

Dr. Michele Borba is an educational psychologist, best-selling author, and TODAY show contributor who has spoken to over one million participants on five continents and to countless media about child development issues. She blends 40 years of teaching and consulting experience with the latest science to offer sound, realistic advice to parents, teachers, and child advocates about helping children thrive.

Dr. Mirian Ofonedu is the Director of Training at Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities, Kennedy Krieger Institute. Dr. Ofonedu is a distinguished researcher and clinician and served as the Project Director of an NIH-funded Clinical Trial on Early Parenting Intervention Comparison (EPIC) research study at the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress at Kennedy Krieger Institute. In addition to research, Dr. Ofonedu has a broad background in teaching, clinical work, and is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Family Counseling Center, LLC.

Dr. Frank Sileo is an award-winning author of 12 children’s books. He is also the author of a parenting book for children with chronic medical illnesses. In addition to his decades as a psychologist, Dr. Sileo is the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Psychological Enhancement, LLC located in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Dr. Sileo is often the “go-to” psychologist in the media for his insights and expertise on a variety of psychological topics. He has appeared on television, radio, print, podcasts, and multiple websites. Take an hour for yourself and gain insight and real-world strategies to help our children with disabilities and without thrive, as we navigate the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

Donna Tetreault is a parenting journalist, author, speaker, and nonprofit founder. She is the host of the podcast Kids Under Construction. Donna blends years of experience as a teacher and journalist to provide the latest in science-backed information and practical strategies for parents, children and families.

Too Small to Fail, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, is leading a public awareness and action campaign to promote the importance of early brain and language development and to empower parents with tools to talk, read, and sing with their young children from birth.
