ADVOCACY

One voice has the power to change a community forever.

At Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration, we have many powerful voices that have joined forces to create an inclusion movement that is changing the world playground by playground, child by child, school by school.

Here are a few of our transformative partners:

Ecuador | From 1 Inclusive Playground to 92

Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno is a champion for true, holistic inclusion for people with disabilities in his country. In 2013, then Vice-President, his office requested that Inclusion Matters partner to design, build, and program the very first inclusive playground in the country. Today, we continue our partnership with the President, the First Lady Rocio de Moreno, and his Ministry. Our design team has trained and provided consultation for playground developers there, helping to fulfill the President’s vision of 92 inclusive playgrounds throughout Ecuador.

United Nations Conference on Disabilities

Tiffany Harris, Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration’ Co-Founder and CEO, recently advocated at the United Nation’s Conference on Disabilities with UNICEF, Ecuadorian First Lady Moreno, Carina Moreno, Isabel Moreno, Director of Ecuador’s Ministries, the UCLA Early Childhood Intervention Center, Too Small to Fail, and Landscape Structures Inc.

Their standing-room only presentation brought the spotlight on inclusion in early childhood for children with disabilities. This global movement to dissolve barriers has been officially recognized:

“Disability inclusion is not only a fundamental human right, it is ‘central to the promise’ of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres told the annual conference on the Convention of Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration is a proud member of UNICEF’s Early Childhood Inclusion Task Force.

Too Small To Fail

Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration support’s Too Small To Fail’s critical mission of improving literacy skills in early childhood by encouraging caregivers to talk, read, and sing to their children from birth on. A Clinton Foundation Initiative, this organization has transformed bus stations, markets, laundry mats and more by placing engaging reading prompts that promote communication… meeting families with rich literacy tools where they live, work and play.

In 2015, Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration, Landscape Structures Inc., and Too Small To Fail opened the first inclusive playground in the country that offered reading and communication play panels. Featuring engaging designs, questions, and story prompts in multiple languages, these panels are now woven into each of our playground designs.

Inclusion on Every Continent

As a proud member of the Clinton Global Initiative, Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration has made the commitment to design, build, and program our inclusive playgrounds on each continent. Today, we have 3 continents on which we are doing more than simply building play spaces. We are partnering with government agencies, corporations, education institutions, and families to create sustainable social inclusion for ALL children.

International Advocacy

Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration’s team routinely attends international conferences to inspire and educate other organizations on the principles of inclusive playground design, the power of community advocacy and the stakeholder process, and how to establish social inclusion through play in schools. Some of our global forums include Congresso Parques in Mexico, Global Disability Summit in Argentina, and the International Federation, and the International Federation of Recreation and Parks Administration.
